- STRIVE networks with the business community to provide training and employment opportunities for students with learning disabilities
- Students participate in apprenticeships and employment in all occupational areas
- Businesses provide career awareness experiences (i.e., job shadowing, informational interviews, etc.)
- Community-based partnerships reinforce positive work related behaviors (i.e. following directions, completing assigned tasks, punctuality, dress for success, grooming)
- Students receive an incrementally based approach to a career and job skills training
Through an employer - trainee relationship STRIVE provides:
- Meetings with the employer and STRIVE staff to identify the company's needs and determine requirements of specific jobs.
- Specific job requirements are matched with the specific skills and abilities of STRIVE students.
- Coordination of the placements, training and job supports of STRIVE trainees in the work place.
- Job coaching and supported employment to STRIVE trainees, employers, and co-workers throughout the placement.

STRIVE students work as community volunteers in meaningful community service opportunities and projects, helping others and learning from those they serve. They develop job-related skills, behaviors, attitudes, interests, and insights that can be translated to future careers.
